Letter from our Founder

A letter from our Founder, Denise Fuehrer Burnette…

Dear Friends,

As some of you already know, about 15 years ago I started a non-profit organization called CREATE with a mission to foster creativity.  I did this because I believe very strongly in the power of creativity to heal, empower, and connect people to each other and to something greater than ourselves.

During this time, there were many people involved in this project, engaged in a variety of tasks from helping to write bylaws to organizing events and participating in art shows, concerts, and festivals.  I am proud of our many accomplishments during this time, and for you who were a part of this with me, I thank you for the role you played in making it happen.

In 2010, after much soul searching and contemplation, the current Board of CREATE, with myself as the President, decided to shed our identity as a non-profit organization.  There were numerous reasons for this decision, too many to list, but I think it would be most accurate to say that the identity and the restrictions and limitations it put on us had become a hindrance to our creativity.  It was time to let it go.

Since then, CREATE has taken many turns, changes, and transformations.  We have organized local festivals, created a networking website, and worked with the Fuquay-Varina Arts Council helping to establish a monthly art walk and to grow their Arts Council.  Through all of these changes, one thing has not changed, that original belief in the value of creativity and the desire to foster creativity in all.

With this vision in mind, I would like to invite you to join the CREATE network.  You can do this by liking us on Facebook, signing up for our email list, or entering your information into our online database.  There is no cost to join, and no expectations or requirements of you if you do.  It is just a way that you can connect with others who wish to support your creativity while you support theirs.
